FATA was founded on the 29th of May 1998 with the back-up of His late Royal Highness Prince Faysal Bin Fahd Bin Abed El Aziz (deceased 2001), President of the Arab Federation for Sports, and the assistance of Mr. Uthman Al Saad and Mr. Jacques Tamer, President of the Lebanese Archery Federation.

Mr. Jim Easton (President of FITA) delegated Mr. Jacques Tamer to head the FATA. After the assignment of board members, Mr. Tamer's presidency was confirmed through election.
